Dining
Every guest cabin at Surprise Valley Ranch has its own well-appointed kitchen, including microwave and coffee pot. You'll also find a large charcoal grill on your private deck or patio.
Most people coming to the ranch will drive through Las Vegas, NM on their way. This is where the nearest groceries and restaurants are located (about 45 minutes from the ranch). At this time there is no food service available at the ranch, so we recommend you stop for groceries along the way, whether in Las Vegas or elsewhere.
Coming Soon: Saloon Dining!
In 2007 a new building went up near the ranch office: The Saloon. We are finishing the interior this spring, and are thrilled to announce that beginning in summer 2008, we will be opening the Saloon to our guests and clients.
Our Saloon will be the ranch's central gathering place, just as it was in any traditional Old West town. Any of our programs with a classroom component will be taught in the Saloon. Guests will gather around the fire to swap stories, play some cards or a board game, log in for WiFi access and maybe play a little guitar or harmonica in the evening. It is also an ideal environment for an indoor retreat or a small to mid-sized wedding reception.
We're also installing a commercial kitchen, so in the near future, guests will have the option of either preparing their own meals in their cabin or enjoying ranch-style meals in the Saloon.
We'll keep you posted here as we get closer to expanding your dining options!
